I managed to do 36 lengths (900m) of front crawl without stopping, my record to date. Did a total of 1600 m with some warm up and 50m sprints.

I decided to go for a run after I had just finished my evening meal. Despite waiting for half an hour, I was still a bit sluggish on the run. I am working away from home so got to enjoy the lovely sights of Oxford in the dark.

Did about 8 v. diff and severe climbs and belayed for partner. Great upper body workout. The only thing that let me down was my grip. Looking forward to trying it again.

I started with 50m crawl + 50m kick board x3. Then did 3 x 100m crawl warm up. I followed this by 500m crawl, practised stroke and body rotation for 2 x 50m then 400m crawl + warm down.

I did a timed 5 km run this evening. The first mile I found hard on my breating but felt fine after that. I did 5 x 50m sprints with very slow jog in between. Finished with a sprint just so I could match my best time!

Cycle round delamere February 14, 2009

On Sat I got out my road bike and cycled the hilly route around Delamere forest, Cheshire. Had to stop three or four times to check the map and at one of these points I still had one foot in the pedal. I lost my balance and went crashing over! Lots of people saw. I hurried off as fast as possible, very embarrassing!!!

It felt good except was very slow on the steep uphills and I’m still not fast enough on the gears.

Other news:

I have got a turbo trainer now so looking forward to the delivery of my training tyre today and having a spin.

It’s been about 2 weeks since I’ve been in the pool mainly due to some awful excuses e.g. I’ve lost my goggles and hat, I’m too tired, my back is sore etc. The last couple of weeks I’ve lost motivation to do exercise but I’m getting back into the swing of training every day. I tookit fairly easy breathing was calm and although I wanted to complete a mile, I stopped short as my arms were shaky. I did some rotation drills (3 x 50m - breathe every 4, then 3 then 2)  with the pull bouy and these were much more controlled than last time.
