Posted by alextrihard Cycle, RunI did 20 mins on the turbo trainer followed by a 5km run. I took it easy on the bike section and managed my usual time of 26 mins for the 5km. Legs felt rough for the first half mile but was easy after that. It took me 30 secs to change shoes and next time I’ll try to unvelcro the bike shoes before I finish the ride. Sitting down to put the running trainers on is definitely the best way - my legs were so wobbly!

Posted by alextrihard CycleI did just 30 mins in the garage before complete boredom set in. It’s a shame I don’t have time for a ‘real’ ride during the week, it’s been lovely weather here. Fingers crossed that the weekend stays fine.
I felt a little more comfortable than last time I went on the bike - I really need an odometer so I know how much I’m doing. Will look around for one later today.

Cycle round delamere February 14, 2009
Posted by alextrihard CycleOn Sat I got out my road bike and cycled the hilly route around Delamere forest, Cheshire. Had to stop three or four times to check the map and at one of these points I still had one foot in the pedal. I lost my balance and went crashing over! Lots of people saw. I hurried off as fast as possible, very embarrassing!!!
It felt good except was very slow on the steep uphills and I’m still not fast enough on the gears.

I have got a turbo trainer now so looking forward to the delivery of my training tyre today and having a spin.

5k run February 10, 2009
Posted by alextrihard Cycle, RunA mighty 15 seconds faster than last time!!! And I overtook a cyclist (admittedly it was a boy reluctantly on his way school). I got a side stitch in the last few hundred metres but finished without stopping. It’s nice to see improvements in my times but I’m not expecting miracles just yet.

Cycled the Golden Gate bridge January 29, 2009
Posted by alextrihard CycleI hired a heavy, old mountain bike to do some sight-seeing whilst on a busines trip. Great! The weather was amazing and the views even better. This was my first trip to the US and I had to go all on my own, very scary but I love San Francisco - would definitely consider going back for a holiday.
